We are a brand new ARTS & LEISURE magazine/periodical under developement that will be entirely made from people that live or work in West Garden Grove, California!

We currently are looking for Writers and Artists ages 5-105 years of age that live or work in West Garden Grove.. Interested? Read on!

A Little About Us

We all have something to say. Whether it has a universal underlying theme or something strictly and directly related to our small community, everybody has an issue they would like to discuss.

The West Grove Voice is your channel through which you can discuss those topics and have them officially published. We encourage writing on any and every matter you can think of with zero discrimination or fear, because you don't have to use your real name.

We want to keep as few restrictions on you and your creative abilities as possible. To do this we are setting nearly no guidelines. All we ask is that you write something honest and passionate. We want you to feel the therapeutic powers of spilling your mind onto a page, and have all of your neighbors read it.

A Few Rules

We will have main topic pages, however, the details of these pages are not set in stone.

  • You may use a pseudonym or alias
  • We will not publish any direct bashing or slander towards a person or group
  • We must confirm your permission to print your article
  • No plagiarism, everything must be original
  • A basic fact check will be conducted

If you feel that you have something to say that people would like to hear about then please do not hesitate to send it in. We will find a place for it in The West Grove Voice.

Our Main Topics

Around Town
Our Around Town section will be for those wishing to write about topics pertaining to our area of West Grove. This includes improvements that should be made to our city, highlights of our city, special events that take place, or any other idea you may have about West Grove.
In The House and Garden
The House and Garden section will contain articles about tips for gardening or stories of failed attempts or successes. This section will also be for you to write about home improvements made to your own home or improvements your neighbors have made that you would like to draw attention to.
Travel
The Travel section is for you to write about a trip you have taken, recently or not. Tell us what you saw, what you learned or why you would or wouldn't go back there. Write not just a review, but something more.
Love, Marriage, and Family
This section may contain poems, confessions, struggles, suggestions or anything else pertaining to love, marriage or family. Do you have a strong urge to get something off of your chest? Or do you simply want to let people know just how you feel about your significant other? Use an alias if you don't want people to know it was you, but get it off your chest.
Science and Nature
For any scientists or engineers who have a passion for what they do, this is the section for you. Explain a natural phenomenon or some other interesting subject to the people in our town. This section is also available for your kids who have an interest in nature. Let them take some pictures of bugs or animals and let them write about them. Or have them ask a question and see if a reader has an answer for them.
Religion
Let us know what you believe. Anything goes with the exception of insults. Explain to us exactly how you feel about God or any other higher power you may believe in. One's religious beliefs are very complicated. Nearly everybody interprets what he or she read differently. Clarify any misunderstandings of your faith or ask a question that you have been unsure of for a while. Do you have a completely different belief system than everybody else you know? Write about it.
Schools
The Schools section is here to allow you to discuss the schooling system set in place in our community. Do you like the way our schools are? Do you feel strongly about the way a particular school is run? Do you feel like a major change needs to take place? Anything that is on your mind about any and all of the schools in West Grove, write about it.
Fiction
For those of you with a strongly creative mind we offer a fiction section. Write a half-page short story or a ten-page story that will take ten issues to finish in a "to be continued.." way. That bizarre imagination you have now has a home, The West Grove Voice Fiction section.
Arts
This page is for the artistic people who express themselves through pictures rather than words. Send us a piece of art and explain what symbolism it contains. Discuss the cover of a pervious issue (which will have a different original piece of art each issue).
Food and Cooking
In the Food and Cooking section you can write about some experiment you tried that turned out really well, or you can write about that time your apron on fire cooking Thanksgiving Dinner. Let us know your favorite wines with your favorite dishes. Let us know which is the best tasting but least known beer in the world. Anything you can think of that has anything to do with eating or drinking, we want to know about it.
Sports
This is a sports section like you have never seen before. We are looking for more than just the scores and highlights of last week's game. We want to know how you feel about the coach. We want to know how the quarterback feels about the wide out's performance. Rather than having sports writers write and critique our athletes, we want our athletes and coaches writing. We want our parents discussing the games.
Real Estate
What's going on in the West Grove housing market? Are you going through a nightmare selling your house? Why? Did you sell or buy a house with ease? What advice would you give? Let us know anything and everything you know about the housing market. Confused about something? Ask a question and see who can answer it.
What's on Your Mind ?
This section is for all of those articles you write that have nowhere else to go. While most topics you can think of will fit in most sections we have, some will not. We do not want to discourage you from writing them anyway. This is our "random" section.
Kids Only!
People under the age of 12 have things to say, too. This is their section. Did your child write something amazing for school at age 6? Show it off.
Classifieds
This section will be for anybody wishing to sell anything, material or services. Do you have a pool table you are trying to sell? Do your kids want to wash cars this summer? Advertise here.
